Lost Memories Found Here

Pictures of our house, neighborhood and area in the 60's and 70's

Carpentersville, Dundee, Algonquin, Cary, Lake in the Hills,
Barrington, Meadowdale, Elgin, Sleepy Hollow...
They were all great places to grow up in the 60's and 70's.
Here are some scenes from around the area, both recent and from the distant past.

Castle Vianden (Bettendorf) in Fox River Grove, Illinois.
My parents loved to visit the castle when it was open
to the public in the 60's.

This is a favorite spot and memory although a current photo.
This is the little shopping center on the corner of Kings Road
and Hwy 25 in Carpentersville. We used to go here almost daily.
It was the home of the Convenient Store, Mr. Lion King of Treats,
and Wintergarden Pharmacy.

winter. We used to love to stop there during the summer.

Youth Take Over Meadowdale Race Track in 1965 - Article from local Carpentersville Newspaper

"This was in October of 1965 if I remember right.
After all these years it was still worth it,
and I'd do it again if the Monza was still there.
There is a video on You tube that really shows
what it was like." -- Kirk Hoffman
